The road bridge near Chonhar connecting the occupied part of the Kherson region with Crimea is no longer operational, according to Russian occupation authorities.
The local outlet IPC-Pivden reported this.
“The road bridge between the occupied part of the Kherson region and Crimea near Chonhar is no longer operational. The structure lost an entire span following strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, making its further use impossible. At the same time, Russian media claim that traffic has been redirected along an embankment built nearby and that the destruction of the bridge itself has therefore not caused logistics problems,” the report said.
The outlet noted that Russian media were referring to satellite images circulating online. The images appear to show an embankment next to the destroyed bridge that is now being used for road traffic. Russian forces are also constructing another crossing in the Chonhar area.
Despite this, IPC-Pivden said the route through the Kherson region towards Crimea remains dangerous for Russian forces because the 'Novorossiya highway' is effectively under the fire control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This complicates Russian military logistics in southern Ukraine and on the occupied peninsula.
