Russian forces are intensifying shelling in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, targeting civilian and critical infrastructure.

This was stated by Colonel Vadym Mysnyk, spokesperson for the operational-tactical group of the Siversk military forces, during a TV broadcast.

"The operational situation along the Chernihiv and Sumy border with Russia is tense. The enemy does not cease shelling daily. In the past few days, we observed a slight decrease in shelling, but yesterday, the enemy again intensified these attacks," Mysnyk said.

He added that the Russian forces are actively using UAVs and targeting civilian and critical infrastructure.

"The enemy uses mostly UAV drops, FPV drones, and mortars along the border daily. Yesterday, they used unguided aviation rockets in settlements of the Chernihiv and Sumy regions. Additionally, the enemy actively deploys strike UAVs such as Shahed and Geran. Over the past 24 hours, our forces shot down 14 such drones. We are also actively using electronic warfare. Unfortunately, when they fall, these UAVs sometimes hit civilian objects. The terrorist state targets civilian infrastructure—critical infrastructure, transportation, residential buildings," Mysnyk emphasized.
