Ukraine's Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, Svitlana Hrynchuk, met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Ukraine, Ole Egberg Mikkelsen. They discussed several pressing issues requiring international investment, including drinking water supply and the construction of additional canals.

"Denmark has already assisted the city of Mykolaiv by creating emergency water supply stations in 2022. Today, water supply, along with military aid to Ukraine, is a priority in our bilateral cooperation," Svitlana Hrynchuk said.

The Minister shared details about the government's water supply program, which aims to provide access to drinking water for residents in frontline regions. This issue has gained particular importance following the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station.

Svitlana Hrynchuk and Ole Egberg Mikkelsen also discussed the prospects for the development of renewable energy in Ukraine.

"This is extremely important, as Russian aggression has caused critical infrastructure, even in frontline areas, to be frequently deprived of electricity due to constant shelling. Partnerships with Denmark here can be productive. We discussed this at COP29 with Denmark's Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, Lars Agerholm, who highlighted the exceptional potential of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone for this sector's development. We are grateful to Denmark for its immense support for Ukraine and for advocating our ideas on the international stage, without waiting for the end of the conflict. Ambassador Mikkelsen assured that Ukraine can count on Denmark's full support during its EU presidency in the second half of 2025," noted Svitlana Hrynchuk.

The Minister also thanked Ambassador Ole Egberg Mikkelsen for the productive conversation. The Ambassador has repeatedly emphasized that Danes still remember the time when Denmark was a frontline state. Both the Danish and Ukrainian peoples share the same values—freedom, democracy, and human rights. Our shared values will undoubtedly lead to joint projects.
