This is the first beer introduced as part of the new artistic line MOVA ART.

"Our country hasn't had its own beer style since its founding. The Czechs have Czech lager, the British have porter and stout, the Belgians have blond and quadrupel. In 2023, the global community officially recognized Ukrainian Golden Ale as a distinct style. This is the first time in our nation’s history that we have a national beer," explains Bohdan Tochka, co-founder and head brewer at MOVA.

By releasing its own Ukrainian Golden Ale, MOVA joins the nationwide movement to popularize the new Ukrainian style:

“It’s like ‘Shchedryk’ – different orchestras can perform it. This is our version of Ukrainian Golden Ale,” says Bohdan Tochka.

The worldwide recognition of Ukrainian Golden Ale as a separate style is the result of efforts by a group of passionate beer enthusiasts who began promoting it in 2021. The recipe itself was created in Ukraine back in 2009.

MOVA’s version of Ukrainian Golden Ale stands out with a floral aroma thanks to dry hopping with Slovakian Aurora and New Zealand Motueka hops.

Overall, this light beer has a strong, balanced base that combines a pronounced hoppy character with a soft malty foundation. MOVA’s ale features floral-citrus notes, a touch of caramel candy sweetness, and a subtle spiciness from Ukrainian coriander.

A distinctive feature of the entire MOVA ART line, which includes the Ukrainian Golden Ale, is the label design that blends modern graphics with four traditional Ukrainian folk art styles: Petrykivka, Samchykivka, Kosiv, and Yavoriv.

Each element carries its own symbolism. For example, the Ukrainian Golden Ale bottle features:

  • a mustachioed baby – symbolizing a young Cossack
  • a blue-eyed boy – representing head brewer Bohdan Tochka
  • a red-haired girl – depicting Natalka, the former head of the export department
  • a bandura – referencing a Ukrainian symbol and brewer Daria Bandura

In addition to Ukrainian Golden Ale, the line will soon feature even more experimental varieties – a Hazy IPA and a peach Berliner Weisse.

MOVA is a craft brewery from Dnipro that offers both classic beer styles and exclusive products – such as a non-alcoholic dark beer. The company has already successfully entered the markets of Norway, Denmark, Poland, and the Netherlands, and plans to further expand its export operations. In 2023, MOVA’s non-alcoholic Dark Beer won a gold medal at the European Beer Star competition.
