The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is extending a €50 million loan to Ukrainian logistics giant Nova Post to finance key components of the company’s 2025–2026 investment programme. The funding will support Nova Post’s ongoing expansion during wartime and its efforts to rebuild and modernize infrastructure, enhance energy efficiency, and strengthen its workforce.

As one of Ukraine’s leading private postal and courier operators, Nova Post has played a vital role in maintaining business continuity and enabling the safe relocation of people and enterprises since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. The EBRD-backed initiative aims not only to boost logistics capacity but also to promote decarbonisation and inclusive employment practices.

The programme will help improve workplace accessibility and automation, expanding job opportunities for women, people with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups. Nova Post is also developing a corporate decarbonisation strategy as part of its broader sustainability goals.

The loan—available in euros or Ukrainian hryvnia—is backed by a first-loss guarantee for 15% of the total amount, provided by the European Union under the Ukraine Investment Framework Municipal Infrastructure and Industrial Resilience (UIF MIIR). In addition, Nova Post is expected to receive an investment grant of up to €1.5 million, funded by the TaiwanBusiness – EBRD Technical Cooperation Fund and the Crisis Response Special Fund to support green and social initiatives.

Despite the war’s impact on the logistics sector, Nova Post has shown strong resilience. Since late 2022, the company has redirected operations toward western and central Ukraine, and through EU border points, maintaining steady growth in deliveries. In 2024 alone, Nova Post set a new benchmark with 429 million parcels delivered, a 16% increase over 2023.

With a network of more than 39,000 service points and a workforce of approximately 33,000 employees, Nova Post serves over 11 million clients monthly across Ukraine. It operates under Nova Group, owned by Ukrainian entrepreneurs Viacheslav Klymov and Volodymyr Popereshniuk.

The EBRD has worked with Nova Post since 2018, financing four projects to date. The bank remains Ukraine’s largest institutional investor, committing over €7 billion to the country since 2022, and preparing an additional €4 billion capital increase to sustain high levels of investment during the war and into the post-war recovery phase.
