Today, March 8, the leadership of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine met with a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The parties discussed the current situation in Ukraine's agricultural sector and its priority needs. They focused on the need to ensure liquidity of the agricultural market, implementation of an irrigation reform and solving the problem of demining of agricultural land.
"We desperately need your support. Most of all, it concerns the volume of lending to agribusiness. We also have crucial irrigation projects. Ukrainian farmers are ready to invest in irrigation even during the war, so we must support them and take steps to systematically strengthen the agricultural sector," emphasized Mykola Solskyy, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.
Representatives of the European Bank assured that they would continue to support Ukrainian farmers and expressed their readiness to provide funding in the amount not less than last year.
In addition, they spoke about the need for assistance in the rapid demining of agricultural land.
"Agricultural land is the most heavily mined. The deregulation process is currently underway to allow more private companies to be involved in the process. So we will count on your support," he summarized.
