According to the State Environmental Inspectorate, since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the total confirmed environmental damage to Ukraine amounts to more than 7 trillion UAH.
The Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture stated this on Facebook.
“Environmental damage caused to Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression has already exceeded 7 trillion UAH. According to the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine, between 12 and 19 June 2026 alone, the total environmental damage increased by an additional 51 billion 919 million 274 thousand UAH,” the statement reads.
The largest increase was recorded in air pollution damage—51.275 billion UAH. The bulk of this amount comes from damage caused by forest fires and the burning of other vegetation, totaling 51.049 billion UAH.
In addition, damage from the burning of oil, petroleum products, and gas is estimated at nearly 219.6 million UAH; from fires involving other objects, waste, and substances—over 5.96 million UAH; and from unorganized emissions of pollutants—around 702 thousand UAH.
Damage from soil contamination and land pollution increased by 643.4 million UAH over the reporting period. Of this, more than 643.35 million UAH is attributed to land pollution, while direct soil contamination caused damage of 43 thousand UAH.
Losses from water pollution, contamination of marine waters, and unauthorized use of water resources also increased by 150 thousand UAH.
The Ministry of Economy emphasized that work on documenting environmental damage is ongoing.
