Eurocape Ukraine Lviv LLC plans to build a 100 MW wind farm in Lviv region, the company’s director Mykhailo Chulkov reported.

“The idea for the Lviv project emerged in 2022, when everyone understood that the war would be long-lasting and the energy sector needed new generation. We officially launched the project in 2023. Currently, we are at the development stage, preparing the permitting documentation,” Chulkov said in a comment to EnergoReform during the Ukrainian Wind Energy Forum organized by the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, which is currently taking place in Lviv, reports Interfax.

According to him, the future wind farm will have a capacity of 100 MW and will consist of approximately 23 turbines of 4.2–4.5 MW each.

“The choice of turbine manufacturer largely depends on who finances the wind farm. American financial institutions are interested in American manufacturers, European ones in European manufacturers,” explained the director of Eurocape Lviv.

He clarified that the investment in the wind farm will be approximately over €150 million, noting that Ukrainian banks will probably not be able to provide such a sum, so the company will seek financing externally.

“When the project is ready for construction, we will involve the EBRD, IFC, and DFC in its financing,” Chulkov outlined.

According to his estimates, the wind farm will be ready for construction by mid-2026, with an additional 1–1.5 years for financing and another two years for construction.

“I think the wind farm should start operating in 2028–2029,” Chulkov concluded.

When asked by EnergoReform, he noted that the fate of the company’s wind farm in Zaporizhzhia, which fell under occupation, is unknown.

“I don’t know its fate. There is no one who could provide reliable information about this station,” said the director of Eurocape Lviv.
