The exhibition the famous Odessa painter was timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Kiriak Kostandi's death; the project was created at the initiative of the Consulate General of Greece in Odessa.

In the exhibition, filled with works of various sizes, there are huge portraits of women, and miniature landscapes, and sketches for paintings and rough sketches. The painter's ability to clearly convey lighting is striking; it is easy to determine the time of day in almost every picture.
All these are works that have been in the museum's funds for a long time, numerous sketches, archival photographs and documents, as well as the work of the contemporary artist Vasily Dmitrik.
The exhibition also contains materials from the Kostandi family archives, telegrams, photos.
Guided tours also in English are available on Sundays. The exhibition will run until November 27th.
Kyriak Kostandi (1852-1921) was one of the most prominent Odessa artists of the 19th - early 20th centuries. He not only created many paintings, but also taught almost all young Odessa artists of his time; was a co-founder of the Association of South Russian Artists.
Kostandi became one of the co-organizers of the Odessa Art Museum, and later, its chief curator (director). Today, the Odessa Art Museum houses the largest collection of works by Kyriak Kostandi, and soon a selected part of it can be seen in the exhibition halls of the museum.
