As part of the 14th Odesa International Film Festival, which will take place from August 19th to 26th, there will be a special screening of the film "Scream of My Blood: The Story of Gogol Bordello."
This documentary film about the leader of the famous American rock band "Gogol Bordello" was directed by Nate Pommer and Eric Weinrib. When the sovereignty and cultural identity of Ukraine are under threat, the punks from "Gogol Bordello" use their music as a rallying cry. Through previously unreleased photo and video archives spanning two decades, "Scream of My Blood: The Story of Gogol Bordello" describes the epic journey of Eugene Hütz, the band's frontman and a captivating storyteller.
Born in Ukraine, Hütz emigrated to the United States with his family after the Chernobyl disaster. Now, after years of exorcising demons through his music, he returns home to confront the biggest one of all. This is a wild punk-rock documentary film that explodes on the screen.
Nate Pommer is a director, editor, and producer who blends experimental chaos with the rigor of documentary storytelling in his works. His short films, documentaries, and music videos have been featured at the TIFF, Slamdance, and New York City Ballet presentations.
Eric Weinrib is an Emmy-nominated director and producer of documentary films whose works have been featured on platforms like HBO, Showtime, Netflix, and Hulu. Weinrib has collaborated with Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Michael Moore for over a decade.
