France continues to expand its support for Ukraine’s medical sector. Since the start of the full-scale war, French assistance has amounted to 18 million euros, and by the end of the year, there will be 24 partnerships between French and Ukrainian hospitals.

This was announced by the Ambassador of France to Ukraine, Gaël Vessier, during the opening of the forum “International Medical Partnership: From Doctor to Doctor.”

“The total support of France to Ukraine’s medical sector since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine amounts to 18 million euros,” the ambassador noted.

He added that the French state, NGOs, and companies continuously help ensure the resilience of Ukraine’s healthcare system.

“I am truly proud that we currently have 16 active partnerships between French and Ukrainian hospitals. Today, four new partnerships will be signed involving three French medical institutions,” the ambassador said. By the end of the year, there will be 24 such partnerships between medical institutions.

According to him, these partnerships will be permanent and cover areas such as mental health, physical rehabilitation, reconstructive and trauma surgery, oncology, and the fight against antimicrobial resistance.

The cooperation will also involve the next generation of doctors and nurses at French universities. Programmes will be launched, in particular, at the University Hospital of Strasbourg.

Vessier also recalled France’s support for the Superhumans War Trauma Centre in Ukraine.

“This project will be expanded, as we are now financing the creation of a new Superhumans rehabilitation centre in Odessa. I very much hope to attend its opening next year,” he added.
