Restoration and development of Ukrainian organic production, support of entrepreneurs in the face of russian aggression, exports, improvement of legislation and bringing it in line with the European standards: these topics were discussed at a meeting of the Steering Group of the German-Ukrainian Cooperation in Organic Agriculture Project â Phase II (COA-II).
The event was attended by representatives of the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, industry experts.
âIn this difficult time for Ukraine, the support within the German-Ukrainian Cooperation in Organic Agriculture Project is extremely important for us. I am very grateful for the long-term fruitful cooperation. In particular, for expert assistance in the implementation of European legislation in the field of organic production. And also for the assistance in organizing training for market operators,â said Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Markiyan Dmytrasevych.
In his statement, he also noted the joint work with the Zukunftsstiftung Landwirtschaft. Together with the project, emergency assistance was organized for organic agriculture in Ukraine. Financing was directed to support producers affected by war.
âWithin the framework of this campaign, 170 enterprises â organic producers and organizations of the sector â received financial assistance. The total amount of support was EUR 560,000,â added Markiyan Dmytrasevych.
The participants of the Steering Group meeting outlined the prospects for the next year. In particular, the provision of portable emergency batteries to the Ukrainian side. The parties plan to further support the implementation of the Organic Law of Ukraine, carry out practical control measures in the field of agriculture, support enterprises and organizations in the field of organic agriculture, as well as implement educational projects.
Within the framework of the program, the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture/BMEL supports partner countries in the development of efficient and resource-saving agriculture and food industry. The COA project is focused on promoting organic agriculture.
