More than a third of Ukrainians expect the war to end in 2025, influenced by Donald Trump's rhetoric, according to Gradus Research.

In 2024, 26% of respondents believed the war would end by the end of the current year or 2025. In the latest survey, this share rose to 37%. Currently, 53% of respondents are confident that Ukraine can repel Russia’s attack. Additionally, 42% believe Ukraine will be stronger after the war.

Regarding post-war recovery, 38% of respondents think it will take over five years to return to normal daily life. Meanwhile, 19% expect it to take up to five years, 13% predict one to two years, and 15% hope it will be less than a year.

As of late 2024, 69% of people communicate in Ukrainian at home, compared to 53% in April 2022.

Emotional state rankings:

  • Fatigue: 52%
  • Tension: 42%
  • Irritation: 32%
  • Hope: 32%
  • Powerlessness: 32%
  • Disappointment: 32%

Most respondents (60%) do not plan to leave Ukraine or change their place of residence within the country, even in the event of heightened war intensity. This may partly be related to the recovery of the job market. By 2024, over 65% of Ukrainians were employed, compared to 24% in March 2022.

Employment is highest among people aged 25 to 54 (69-72%), while 27% of Ukrainians aged 18-24 and 40% of those aged 55-60 remain unemployed.

More than half of respondents report a decrease in their salaries compared to pre-war levels, while 25% are receiving the same salary.
