Herman Smetanin has been appointed head of Ukroboronprom for a second time, according to the statement from Ukraine’s strategic arms and military equipment manufacturer.
“Following the competition for the position of CEO of the Joint Stock Company ‘Ukrainian Defense Industry,’ the company’s supervisory board appointed Herman Smetanin as the new director,” the statement reads.
Ukroboronprom noted that a total of 14 candidates applied for the position. The selection and evaluation were conducted by the international firm Odgers Berndtson, which specializes in top-level executive recruitment.
“The decision to appoint the new CEO was made after final interviews with the candidates who made the shortlist based on the previous selection process,” the company added.
Herman Smetanin previously headed Ukroboronprom in 2023, before being appointed head of the Ministry of Strategic Industries. He has also held management positions at several armored vehicle enterprises.
