The representative of the Democratic Party, Congressman of six convocations from Kansas and Honorary President of the Association of American Congressmen Jim Slattery visited Odessa on May 22 and was guest of the Odessa Regional Council at a prayer breakfast.

Jim Slattery said that he notices the progress in the development of Ukraine and invariably supports our country.

It is a great honour for me to be here, I would like to congratulate Ukrainians on the upcoming 30th anniversary of Independence, I am optimistic about the future of Ukraine, because Ukrainians have talent and a huge resource. I have been visiting Ukraine regularly since 2004 and have seen progress. I hope that people also notice and are grateful for this progress, for the development of the country. I would like to note that today there are many divisions in the United States between Democrats and Republicans, but together we support an independent and free Ukraine. We want to help the people of Ukraine and support their government. But we also understand that the future of Ukraine is determined by the Ukrainians.

Slattery arrived in Ukraine a few days ago to participate in the international forum "Ukrainian-American Partnership", within the framework of which the strengthening of cooperation between states within the framework of common economic and social projects is being discussed.
