During 2024–2025, the procurement agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Defense Procurement Agency, signed contracts with 76 manufacturers for the supply of unmanned aerial vehicles.

According to Hlib Kanevskyi, Director of the Procurement Policy Department at the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the agency paid 104.2 billion UAH to domestic drone manufacturers during this period.

Specifically, the agency is currently working with:

  • 36 FPV drone manufacturers (maneuverable small devices used for precision strikes, actively deployed on the front lines);

  • 14 bomber quadcopter manufacturers (capable of accurately dropping munitions from the air onto enemy targets);

  • 12 manufacturers of reconnaissance planes and fixed-wing drones (used for deep aerial reconnaissance and fire correction);

  • 5 manufacturers of deep-strike drones (designed for long-range strikes over 400 km against enemy rear positions);

  • 5 manufacturers of reusable strike drones of the aircraft type (capable of carrying warheads and returning to base after completing a mission);

  • 3 manufacturers of short-range kamikaze drones (used to strike targets at tactical depth);

  • 1 manufacturer of aerial targets (simulate enemy drones or aircraft for training and air defense system testing).

These contracts are part of the Ministry of Defense’s policy to technologically rearm the army, enhance its mobility and rapid response capabilities, and boost national production in the defense sector.
