A resident of the Odessa region, who organized a channel for smuggling people across the border, was detained yesterday by border guards of the Belgorod-Dniestrovsky detachment together with representatives of the SBU counterintelligence and State Bureau of Investigations officers.
In order to conceal his illegal actions, the man enlisted in the ranks of the territorial defense of one of the border settlements.
Enlisting the support of another "volunteer", the attacker tried to transport two conscripts to Moldova in his own car. For such a service, he took 5,000 euros from each citizen.
However, such an adventure was prevented by law enforcement officers, who did not follow his ID and uniform. Currently, criminal proceedings have been instituted against the organizer of the illegal transaction under Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine). The organizer and accomplice face up to 9 years in prison. The other two men were charged with attempting to cross the state border illegally.
