On the night of December 6 (from 18:00 on December 5), the Russian forces launched a combined strike on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure using strike drones, and air-, sea-, and land-launched missiles.
In total, the radar troops of the Air Forces detected and tracked 704 aerial attack targets – 51 missiles (including 17 ballistic) and 653 drones of various types:
- 653 strike drones of the Shahed and Gerbera types (and other drone types) from the directions of Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russia; Chauda – temporarily occupied Crimea (over 300 of them were Shaheds);
- 3 aeroballistic Kinzhal Kh-47M2 missiles (launch areas: Ryazan and Tambov regions – Russia);
- 34 cruise missiles Kh-101 / Iskander-K / Kalibr (launch areas: Rostov region – Russia, Black Sea);
- 14 ballistic missiles Iskander-M / KN-23 (launch areas: Bryansk, Rostov, Krasnodar regions – Russia, occupied Crimea).
The air attack was repelled by aviation, air defense missile troops, electronic warfare units, drone units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 10:00, air defense shot down/suppressed 615 aerial targets:
- 585 drones of the Shahed, Gerbera (and other types);
- 29 cruise missiles Kh-101 / Iskander-K / Kalibr;
- 1 ballistic missile Iskander-M / KN-23.
Missiles and 60 strike drones hit 29 locations, and debris from downed targets fell in three locations.
