Air defense systems intercepted 405 drones and 12 missiles used by Russian forces to attack Ukraine

On the night of November 14 (from 18:00 on November 13), the Russian forces carried out a combined strike on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure using attack drones and missiles launched from air, ground, and sea platforms.

In total, Ukraine’s Air Force radar units detected and tracked 449 aerial attack targets — 19 missiles (13 of them ballistic) and 430 various types of UAVs (about 300 Shaheds):

  • 430 attack UAVs of the Shahed and Gerbera types (and other UAV types) from directions: Kursk, Millerovo, Orel, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk — Russia; Hvardiyske — temporarily occupied Crimea;
  • 3 aeroballistic missiles Kh-47M2 “Kinzhal” (from Ryazan region, Russia);
  • 1 anti-ship missile “Zircon”;
  • 6 cruise missiles Iskander-K / Kalibr (from temporarily occupied Crimea / Black Sea waters);
  • 9 ballistic missiles Iskander-M / KN-23 (from Bryansk region).

The main target of the strike was Kyiv. Other affected regions included Kyiv region, Kharkiv region, Odessa region, Poltava region, and Cherkasy region.

The air attacks were countered by aviation, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare units, drone defense systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Preliminary data as of 09:30 indicate that air defense systems intercepted/suppressed 419 aerial targets:

  • 405 UAVs of Shahed, Gerbera, and other types;
  • 2 aeroballistic Kh-47M2 “Kinzhal” missiles;
  • 6 ballistic Iskander-M / KN-23 missiles;
  • 6 cruise Iskander-K / Kalibr missiles.

Missile strikes and 23 attack UAVs hit 13 locations, while debris from downed targets fell on 44 locations.
