As of the beginning of March 2024, nearly 10,000 Ukrainian military personnel have undergone training in France since the beginning of the conflict.

This information is provided by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In addition to supplying weapons and military equipment, France supports Kyiv through training Ukrainian military personnel to enhance their skills according to their needs, enabling them to continue defending their territory.

Training is one aspect of French support for Ukraine, along with equipment transfer and financial assistance. Training takes place both in France and in Poland, primarily within the framework of the European Union Military Assistance Mission to support Ukraine (EUMAM). Since the beginning of the conflict, France has trained nearly 10,000 Ukrainian military personnel, including 8,800 in 2023.

"We have opened the doors for training [Ukrainian fighter pilots] with several other European countries," emphasized the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, on May 15, 2023.

The training is conducted in three main directions:

1. Tactical Training and Equipment Operation: This includes training related to tactics, implementation, and operation of various equipment supplied, such as Caesar howitzers, Crotale NG missiles, light armored vehicles AMX 10-RC, multiple rocket launchers, and even medium-range surface-to-air missile systems (SAMPT).

2. Specialized Training: Focused on critical know-how or high value-added expertise covering various fields such as healthcare, logistics, demining, or reconnaissance.

3. Formation of Tactical Units: Aimed at conducting combat operations in urban areas and trenches, with the goal of strengthening the skills of Ukrainian officers to command a platoon or battalion.

In 2024, the objective is to expand this training to include the aerial and naval components of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
