Ukrainian diplomacy went through 2025 with dignity and principled resolve, proving its effectiveness under the conditions of a full-scale war, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said following an online meeting with heads of foreign diplomatic missions.

During the meeting, he discussed further key tasks outlined by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday at events marking Diplomatic Service Workers’ Day.

“In 2026, the work of the entire diplomatic team will focus on the consistent protection of our national interests, strengthening Ukraine’s armed forces, and achieving a just peace based on respect for international law and the UN Charter. Key priorities also include the formation of effective security guarantees, development of the defense industry, strengthening sanctions pressure against the aggressor, advancing on the path to EU membership, supporting our economy, and providing consular protection for Ukrainian citizens abroad,” Sybiha wrote on Facebook.

According to him, a separate urgent task was also set for ambassadors — strengthening Ukraine’s air defense. A plan of action and international contacts for the first days of the new year was also agreed upon.
