The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, held a meeting with American businessman and philanthropist, Chairman of the Open Society Foundation, Alexander Soros.
The meeting was also attended by: Deputy Head of the Office of the President, Roman Mashovets, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the Head of State, Daria Zarivna, Vice President for Advocacy and Communications of the Open Society Foundation, Laura Zilber, and Executive Director of the International Renaissance Foundation, Alexander Sushko.
The parties discussed the possibilities for the development of the Ukrainian economy. In this context, they emphasized the importance of infrastructure reconstruction and recovery, as well as the implementation of investment projects.
The importance of seizing Russian assets and their subsequent transfer for the reconstruction of Ukraine, as well as strengthening sanctions against Russia, was highlighted. In particular, Andriy Yermak stressed the need to continue efforts to close the paths of bypassing the country's existing restrictions and to impose sanctions on Russian military-industrial complex companies involved in the production of missiles and drones that subsequently target Ukrainian civilian and infrastructure objects.
Separate attention was paid to the situation on the front lines. The Head of the Office of the President outlined the urgent needs of Ukraine's defense forces. In the context of supporting Ukrainian defenders, the participants exchanged ideas about the development of the veteran movement in our country and the support of veteran organizations.
"We welcome the willingness of American entrepreneurs, friends of Ukraine, to help our country in overcoming the aggressive war unleashed by Russia. We appreciate their contribution to this victory," emphasized Andriy Yermak.
Daria Zarivna introduced the participants to President Volodymyr Zelensky's plan, Bring Kids Back UA, for the return of Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russia in the occupied territories of our state. She emphasized that this strategic plan corresponds to the point of the Ukrainian peace formula regarding the release of all prisoners and deportees. The Advisor to the Head of the President's Office also spoke about the crimes committed by Russia against Ukrainian children in the occupied territories.
