German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock sees no hope for an end to the war in Ukraine anytime soon and emphasizes that a truce on Russia's terms will not improve the situation for Ukrainians.
According to the German media, she said this in an interview with Bild am Sonntag.
Baerbock said she sees no hope of a holiday halt in Russia's war against Ukraine and no sign that Russia is about to back down.
She noted that she does not consider a truce on the Kremlin's terms as a way out because it "would not stop the horrors for the Ukrainian people, but vice versa." Baerbock noted that people in the occupied territories are in the worst situation. âEvery day they live in fear that they can be kidnapped, tortured and killed by the Russian occupation forces,â the Foreign Minister noted, also recalling that there are also problems with access to basic utilities on the other side of the front line and international humanitarian aid does not get there.
"This war was started by none other than Putin, and if Putin wants, the war can end even tomorrow," the German Foreign Minister said.
