Budapest Central European Fashion Week celebrates its 10th anniversary in cooperation with Ukrainian Fashion Week. Ukrainian designers will present new collections at BCEFW between 3-4 September 2022.

The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA) organises the Budapest Central European Fashion Week (BCEFW), one of the most recognised fashion events in Hungary and the Central European region for the tenth time. The Agency has joined the “Support Ukrainian Fashion” Initiative launched by Ukrainian Fashion Week this season.

“The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency keeps striving to support regional designers and strengthen connections between neighbouring countries. Humanitarian aid is especially important for us, so it was no question that we wanted to help Ukrainian designers to present their collections to the international fashion community at the 10th BCEFW. We help them present themselves in front of international traders and the public as due to the war in Ukraine they will not be able to show their collections in the homeland. Similarly to previous events, we are expecting guests from all around the world again, which is an excellent opportunity for brands to popularise themselves globally and extend their professional networks” – said Anita Forintos-Szűcs, Deputy CEO of the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency.

Within BCEFWxUFW cooperation several Ukrainian designers will present their latest collections in Budapest. In addition to the catwalk shows held at the Museum of Fine Arts, the designers’ pieces will be shown at several locations in the city, so those interested can take a closer look at the 2023 spring-summer collections.

«We are very proud that regardless of any circumstances and cataclysms, Ukrainian Fashion Week has not missed a single season throughout its 25 years history.  However, there are very low chances for the 51st season of UFW to happen in Ukraine due to the severe war.

Thus, we have launched the “Support Ukrainian Fashion” Initiative to reinforce Ukrainian designers and ensure presenting their new collections on the international catwalks. Today, fashion weeks in 8 countries support Ukrainian designers and Ukrainian Fashion.

We are deeply thankful to The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency and  Budapest Central European Fashion Week for their support and the special conditions they have provided for the Ukrainian designers. Fashion has an exceptional power to stand for human rights, diversity and freedom.  Today, fashion shows humanity and support,” – Iryna Danylevska, Founder and CEO of Ukrainian Fashion Week.

This is not the first collaboration between the HFDA and the UFW. As part of the professional relationship between the two organizations, they have been mutually supporting each other and the work of fashion designers for several years. Ukrainian designers have been returning participants of the fashion week in Budapest, while Hungarian talents have been showcasing in Kyiv. However, this season’s partnership is the biggest.
