The inaction of the United States Congress has led to terrible consequences in Ukraine, as new funding of $60 billion has not been voted on.

This was stated by US President Joseph Biden, reports the White House press service.

Before meeting with congressional leaders, the president noted that the need to allocate new aid to Ukraine is urgent.

"I think the consequence of inaction every day in Ukraine are dire.  I’ve been speaking to some of our — our G7 partners," Biden said.

According to the head of state, the US needs to deal with the issue of aid to Israel, which is part of the package of funds for Ukraine.

"We have to replenish the air defenses for Israel, and we have to work on making sure they don’t face the threat from — they can face the threat from the — from what’s going on in the Middle East, not just from Hamas but from Iran," he added.

He also added that Congress needs to allocate funding to the government, as shutting it down "will cause significant damage to the economy."
