German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius acknowledged delays in supplying weapons to Ukraine but assured that his country will 'as quickly as possible' increase production capacities. He is quoted by DW.

'We have a well-known problem: the defense industry cannot keep up with the demand in certain areas,' he said, adding that this applies to both ammunition and air defense systems.

According to Pistorius, the defense industry is expanding capacities 'everywhere it can,' but 'speed is a factor over which you cannot have unlimited control.'

The head of the German Ministry of Defense explained that it takes time to open a factory and create necessary reserves to then be able to produce quickly and without interruption.

As an example, Pistorius mentioned the production of ammunition for the Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, which Germany had to restart. According to him, 'although they did it relatively quickly, it still took six months.
