On December 11, foreign ministers of EU countries will discuss security guarantees for Ukraine. Options will be brought to the summit of European leaders, Sky TG24 reports.
Borrell made the relevant statement before the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council.
"Russia continues to attack Ukraine, but Russia's losses are increasing: it is time to support Kyiv more, not less. Today we will discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, and ministers should give me guidance to bring options to the summit of leaders," said Borrell.
The EU's chief diplomat emphasized that it is important for military support to Ukraine to be at the European level, not just at the bilateral level. In addition, he stated that "it is time to focus all our efforts on supporting Ukraine," as Russia intensifies its attacks.
"Ministers will have to give me instructions to present to the European Council a proposal on security commitments that are mainly aimed at enhancing the capabilities of structures and coordinating bilateral agreements between member states and Ukraine, as well as what we are doing at the European Union level," explained the diplomat.
Reminder: On December 14-15, the summit of European Union leaders will take place. European leaders will determine the prospects for the integration of Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia.
