Russian leaders are demanding the military to capture more territory, but the occupiers cannot effectively conduct offensive operations in the area of Avdiivka. This information has been reported by the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom.

"Over the last week, heavy but inconclusive fighting has continued around the Donetsk region town of Avdiivka, where Russia initiated a major offensive effort in mid-October 2023," the statement says.

It is noted that Russia has deployed up to 8 brigades to this direction. According to intelligence reports, they have likely suffered some of the highest casualties among Russian forces in 2023.

In contrast, Russian propagandists have sharply criticized the so-called Russian operation near Avdiivka. Intelligence suggests that the primary military-political challenge for Russia remains the same as it has been for most of the war.

"Political leaders demand more territory to be seized but the military cannot generate effective operational level offensive action," added the intelligence report.
