The Green Party emphasized the need to focus on the needs of Ukraine.
After the successful counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, some Bundestag parties demanded that the German government strengthen support for Ukraine with weapons.
Spiegel writes about it.
The leader of the Greens coalition party, Omid Nouripour, called for the supply of German weapons on the eve of winter.
âWe must focus on the needs of Ukraine. Right now, before winter sets in, we must support Ukraine in liberating as much of its country as possible this year. Everyone in the government knows that more can be done. It is necessary not only to carry out circular exchanges of weapons but also, if possible, directly from the warehouses of the Bundeswehr and industry," he said.
At the same time, the deputy of the Bundestag from the "Free Democrats," Marcus Faber called for the direct delivery of Marder armored personnel carriers.
"With our armored vehicles, the liberation would have gone faster, and fewer Ukrainians would have died," he explained his position.
Finance Minister Christian Lindner said "we must check daily to see if we can do more to help her in this war."
In addition, the representative of the defense policy of the opposition CDU / CSU Florian Hahn also spoke in support of Ukraine.
âThe current developments in Ukraine show that, given the necessary means, Putinâs desire for an invasion can be successfully repelled. Berlin must finally give up its reluctance and supply more weapons. The sooner Russia realizes that it will not achieve military success, the sooner real peace talks," he concluded.
Recall that a little earlier, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that Germany should continue to supply weapons to Ukraine to fight the Russian invaders.
