Ukrainian Daria Bilodid became the European Judo Champion in the under 57 kilograms weight category. This is the athlete's best result in the last five years.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Judo Federation on Telegram.
On her way to the final, the Ukrainian managed to defeat five opponents: Pihla Salonen, Azize Altındere, Timna Nelson-Levy, and Eteri Liparteliani.
In the final, Bilodid faced Slovenian athlete Kaja Kajzer. In 2023, the Ukrainian was unable to defeat her in the quarterfinals of the Zagreb Grand Prix, but she got her revenge.
Thus, Bilodid secured her fourth medal at the European Championships - prior to this, she had two gold and one silver medal in the under 48 kg weight category.
This victory also marks the first for the Ukrainian athlete at the level of world and European championships after she changed weight categories in 2022.
We warmly congratulate our champion, the entire coaching staff, and all Ukrainian judo fans
