Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal met with a delegation of the Lithuanian Seimas, led by Speaker Juozas Olekas.

First and foremost, the Defense Minister expressed gratitude to the friendly Lithuanian people for their support and all the assistance provided. He noted that Lithuania is one of Ukraine’s closest allies and was the first to allocate 0.25% of its GDP for military aid.

“Now we are calling on our other partners to do the same,” said Denys Shmyhal.

During the talks, the sides discussed the exchange of experience and technologies in the defense industry, as well as opportunities for developing joint projects. The Defense Minister thanked Lithuania for announcing Ukraine’s involvement in projects under the SAFE mechanism and their willingness to implement them together with Ukrainian companies. He also expressed special gratitude for Lithuania’s participation in the purchase of American weapons through the PURL initiative.

Shmyhal noted that Lithuania and other Baltic countries face significant pressure from the aggressor state, and Ukraine is ready to share its experience to help protect its friends. Accordingly, the delegations discussed practical steps for countering enemy drones and building a resilient defense system.

“The Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian brigade can become a foundation for cooperation among allied states and for exchanging military experience,” Shmyhal highlighted its effectiveness.

He also thanked Lithuania for supporting Ukraine’s NATO membership and emphasized that Ukraine greatly values this support.

According to the minister, the conversation with Mr. Olekas confirmed the friendship between the countries and their readiness for joint action.
