From now on, digital piracy is legalized in Belarus. The new law allows the use of films, music and computer programs in the country without the consent of foreign rights holders.
This is stated in the published text of the law.
The new law allows the use of films, music, and computer programs in the country without the consent of their rights holders from "unfriendly" countries. The document also legalizes the importation of goods into Belarus without the permission of their foreign rights holders.
For the import of goods without the sanction of the right holder not to be considered a crime, it is enough to include it in the list of "essentially important" for the domestic market.
In addition, the document states that such a solution is "the development of the intellectual and spiritual and moral potential of society" and "the reduction of critical shortages in the domestic market of food and other goods."
At the same time, the law states that remuneration must be paid for using foreign computer programs, music, television programs, and "audiovisual works". But if the royalties credited to the accounts of the patent authority are not claimed within three years, this money goes to the budget of Belarus.
It is known that Belarusian dictator Lukashenko signed the corresponding law on January 3.
