European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European leaders congratulated Maia Sandu on her re-election as President of Moldova.

"It takes a rare kind of strength to overcome the challenges you’ve faced in this election," wrote Ursula von der Leyen on social network X.

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola also congratulated Sandu on her re-election.

"She has shown extraordinary courage & leadership to stand up for her people. Europe will keep standing with Moldova on this journey," Metsola wrote on social media.

French President Emmanuel Macron, commenting on the preliminary results of the elections in Moldova, stated that democracy "prevailed over all interference and maneuvers."

President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Maia Sandu on her victory in the presidential elections in Moldova.

"Moldovans have made a clear choice—they chose a path toward economic growth and social stability. Only true security and a peaceful, united Europe can guarantee each person and every family the confidence to face tomorrow with hope and certainty," he wrote in social media.

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu stated that Sandu's victory in the second round of the presidential elections is "clear evidence of the will of the people of Moldova to defend democracy and secure their path toward joining the EU."

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk also commented on the election results in Moldova. According to Tusk, the incumbent president was able to win against the "favorite of Moscow," despite the "aggressive and extensive interference of Russia in the presidential elections." The Polish Prime Minister expressed hope that this trend would continue in other countries "in the coming days and months."

On November 3, the second round of the presidential elections in Moldova took place. The Central Election Commission has already processed 99.77% of the ballots. According to preliminary results, the incumbent president Maia Sandu, who ran from the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), is winning with 55.37% of the votes. Her opponent, the candidate from the Party of Socialists, Alexander Stoianoglo, received 44.63% of the votes.
