On Monday, March 4th, large-scale military exercises called "Nordic Response 24" begin in the northern parts of Finland, Sweden, and Norway, under the leadership of Norway, reports Yle.

It is noted that for Finland, this is the most significant participation in international exercises abroad in the history of the Finnish Defense Forces, and also the first time Finland, as a NATO member, is practicing collective defense of the alliance.

Nordic Response is a large-scale military exercise on land, sea, and air. It will involve approximately 20,000 military personnel from 14 countries. Finland will be represented by about 4,100 military personnel.

More than 100 aircraft from Finland, Sweden, Norway and other Nato nations are taking part in the drills, which involve fighter jets, air refuelling tankers, transport and surveillance planes, as well as various helicopters.
