French instructors are training the Ukrainian brigade Anna Kyivska. The training involves using tanks and other equipment.

This was reported by President Emmanuel Macron.

As noted by the diplomatic mission, today, October 9, French President Emmanuel Macron, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu will meet with the military from the Anna Kyivska brigade.

The embassy stated that France is the first country to train a full Ukrainian brigade on its territory. This initiative has no analogues in terms of the number of trained soldiers and the duration of training.

"The training will involve the transfer of weapons and military equipment to maximize the approach to real conditions and using French equipment that will later be employed in combat," the embassy explained.

The diplomatic mission clarified that the training includes:

  • Staff processes at the battalion and brigade levels;
  • Training of leadership personnel;
  • Infantry combat;
  • Armored combat using light tanks AMX-10RC;
  • Engineering combat;
  • Air defense using Mistral missiles;
  • Use of CAESAR artillery.

According to this program, as of September this year, France has trained nearly 15,000 Ukrainian soldiers. The training takes place in France and Poland, where Paris has sent about 100 instructors.

In turn, President Emmanuel Macron has already shown a video of the training.

"I made this commitment: our military are currently training 2,300 Ukrainian soldiers in Grand Est (a region in eastern France - ed.) with the equipment they will use during missions. The Anna Kyivska brigade will be trained and equipped thanks to France's solidarity," the head of state said.
