Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine detained another Russian agent in the Donetsk region. On orders from the FSB, he was coordinating missile, bomb, and drone attacks by Russian forces on Sloviansk.

The main task of the suspect was to locate and transmit the positions of Ukrainian Defense Forces units engaged in combat in the Lyman and Kramatorsk directions.

The investigation established that the espionage mission was carried out by a 68-year-old local resident, who made contact with the FSB through a specialized chat bot of the Russian intelligence service.

After recruitment, the suspect began traveling around the frontline city and its surroundings on public buses, recording the locations of Ukrainian personnel.

SSU officers uncovered the agent in advance, documented his reconnaissance activities, and arrested him at his place of residence. The Security Service also took measures to secure the deployment points of Ukrainian troops in areas under Russian intelligence activity.

During searches of the suspect’s home, a smartphone with evidence of work for Russia was seized.

Currently, SSU investigators have informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 2, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed during martial law).

The perpetrator faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
