The vast majority of Hungarian society supports the Ukrainian people, although the people of Hungary are very divided.

Hungarian opposition politician, Mayor of Budapest Gergely Karácsony, told about this in an interview with "European Truth".

"Hungarian society is a very divided society, which is heavily influenced by Hungarian government propaganda. The Orbán government is trying to present itself as if it is the only representative of the Hungarian people. But in fact, society is divided," said Gergely Karácsony.

He emphasized that the vast majority of citizens in Hungary support the Ukrainian people, but due to the effectiveness of government propaganda, many people believe in fakes.

"Because of this, there are people who believe that America is behind everything happening. Another difference: the Hungarian government positions itself as a friend of Russia, although the Hungarians are actually more pro-Ukrainian," the mayor of Budapest added.

He noted that when Ukrainian refugees started coming to Hungary, they received a warm welcome here, especially in Budapest.

"People actively joined to give them shelter. But we just handed over a batch of generators, heaters, and food to Ukraine. Of course, there is a small proportion of those who believe in Russian propaganda, but the hearts of the majority of Hungarians are with Ukraine," the Hungarian politician assured .
