The Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), with funding from the German Federal Foreign Office, will provide more than 700 generators to support the Ukrainian energy system. Of these, at least 25 generators will be provided to food producers, in particular for the production of bread, milk, livestock products, electricity supply to storage facilities, etc.
Frank Müller, Agricultural Attaché of the German Embassy in Ukraine, expressed sincere gratitude to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for their assistance in distributing generators to food producers. According to him, it is extremely important to support production and ensure food security of people, particularly in the most affected regions.
The first 10 generators, with a capacity of 450 kW, have already been delivered to a depot, from where they will be distributed to food producers in war-affected and recently regained areas.
âTerrorist attacks on energy facilities continue, causing a threat not only to energy supply, but also to food security. Because without electricity there will be no basic products such as bread, dairy and meats,â said Denys Bashlyk, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Pierre Vauthier, Head of FAO Ukraine Office, said that this activity was part of broader joint efforts to support Ukrainian farmers in 2023. This year farmers will receive additional critical resources such as generators, seeds, and grain storage facilities
