The German Foreign Minister calls on Moscow to remove Russian weapons from nuclear power plants and allow the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency for a long period.
German Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock calls on Moscow to return control of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant to Ukraine.
Annalena Baerbock said this at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba following the talks in Kyiv.
"We call on Moscow to allow the IAEA into the station for a long time and completely remove the weapons," Baerbock said.
At the same time, the head of the German Foreign Ministry stressed that "Russia should transfer control over the Zaporizhzhya NPP to a single legal owner, namely Ukraine."
She said there was no need to give in to Moscow because the war was Russia's fault.
At the request of the government of Ukraine, the IAEA formed a mission to visit the power plant seized by the occupiers.
On September 1, the IAEA delegation arrived at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. On September 2, Grossi announced that two of the organization's experts would continue working at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant full-time.
