As a result of the shelling of Kherson on February 12, the modernist building of the Yuvileyny Сoncert hall was damaged. This was reported in the Ukrainian Modernism community.
A Russian projectile hit the complex's central facade, damaging the aluminum panel decoration. "A careful restoration is required, with the installation of identical aluminum panels in place of the ones that came off," the post said.
This is the second time the Russians have aimed at Yuvileyny. The first time was last December.
Yuvileiny concert hall was built in 1970, designed by architects Hryhoriy Sokolovskyi and Halyna Skrypchenko, decorated with a monumental mosaic panel by Felix Kider. The building is an example of Soviet modernism. The cinema-concert hall is located on the territory of the former Kherson fortress.
