On August 24, Independence Day, an exhibition of the newly created Museum of Ukrainian Sound Recordings will open in Kyiv. The collection boasts over 400 rare recordings of Ukrainian music. The ideologist and head of the institution is the iconic DJ Derbastler (Ivan Moskalenko), a pioneer of Ukrainian electronic music in the 1990s and a member of bands like Gogol Bordello, Yarn, Foa Hoka, and others.

The Museum of Ukrainian Sound Recordings was founded in June of this year, based on the Kyiv Municipal Center for Folk Art. The director of this state institution, Fedir Balandin, became interested in Ivan Moskalenko's idea of creating an exhibition project showcasing the 'treasures of Ukrainian music on various mediums,' while also narrating the history of sound recordings. Together, they embarked on creating this new institution.

"Today, the Museum of Ukrainian Sound Recordings is just beginning. Ahead of us lies expansion, cultural explorations, expeditions dedicated to various aspects of musical culture in Ukraine and the world. We will be happy to collaborate with all enthusiastic researchers of music from the pre-digital era," say the museum's founders.

The exhibition will open its doors on August 24 at 2:00 PM.

It is located in the art complex 'Spivoche Pole,' at 41 Lavrska Street. Admission is free
