The ceremony took place at one of the shipbuilding facilities in Istanbul. Following Turkish traditions, the ceremonial laying was conducted after the construction of sections and the hull.

A Ukrainian delegation, including the Chief of Staff of the Navy Vice Admiral Andriy Tarasov and Deputy Minister of Defense Volodymyr Havrylov, attended the event. According to representatives of the Ukrainian Navy, all construction works for the vessel are being carried out according to the agreed schedule. Due to the onset of the Russian invasion in February 2022, the entire ship will be constructed in Turkey.

This is already the second vessel of this type that Turkey is building on behalf of the Ukrainian Navy. The first corvette, "Hetman Ivan Mazepa," was laid down in September 2021.

The contract for the construction of two corvettes was signed between the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and Turkish companies in December 2020
