Integration of Ukraine into Europe’s comprehensive air defense system must become an evident security reality, stated Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
“And without waiting for the clusters to open, we are working to close the ‘eastern flank.’ It is impossible to create an effective air shield while leaving its key part outsourced. Integrating Ukraine into Europe’s air defense system is an obvious necessity, and it must become an evident security reality,” he said during his opening remarks at the Third International Defense Industries Forum (DFNC3) on Monday.
According to the minister, the EU SAFE programme is creating opportunities for Ukrainian arms manufacturers to participate in strengthening the EU’s security immediately.
“We are actively working with our partners to ensure that the funds mobilized under this programme are directed, among other things, toward joint production with Ukrainian manufacturers. We are already seeing positive signals from our partners, and I believe this direction is extremely promising,” Sybiha add.
