Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has announced the appointment of Patrick Turner as the senior representative to head the NATO Representation in Ukraine.
According to the NATO website, Turner expressed,
"I am truly honoured to have been appointed as NATO's Senior Representative in Ukraine. I look forward to leading the NATO Representation and to working very closely with the Ukrainian authorities and with NATO Allies and partners to help deliver NATO support to Ukraine."
Turner will lead the NATO Representation in Ukraine and serve as the coordinator for NATO's interaction with the Ukrainian authorities. He will coordinate NATO's assistance and provide the Alliance with assessments of the situation in Ukraine.
Turner will assume his position in Kyiv in September 2024. Currently, the NATO Representation in Ukraine is headed by Karen McTear.
Prior to his appointment, Patrick Turner worked as the NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations and Defense Policy and Planning and held several senior positions in the UK civil service.
During his tenure as Assistant Secretary General, the campaign in Afghanistan concluded.
