White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby stated that the Kremlin's decision to increase the size of the Russian army is another attempt by Russian President Vladimir Putin to achieve his goals at the expense of human lives. He made this statement during an online briefing on Friday, reports Ukrinform.

"There is no doubt that he (Putin) is literally throwing human flesh at it to try to hold onto the territory they illegally occupied in Ukraine and to try to take even more," Kirby emphasized.

According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine surpass the Russians in the quality of troops, leadership, command, and control, as well as in the weaponry provided to Ukraine by the United States and many other countries.

The White House National Security Council coordinator noted that since Putin cannot match such quality, his response is simply trying to achieve his goals through quantity, as was the case near Bakhmut.

"This just underscores the difficulties that the Russians are having in Ukraine and will continue to have. So our steadfast recommendation to Putin would be to abandon this and, frankly, get out of Ukraine altogether, and then he won't have to worry about increasing his military," said the White House representative.
