A new mechanized demining machine capable of digging up to 30 cm into the ground and primarily designed to neutralize anti-tank mines was unveiled in Kharkiv.
The announcement was made by Oleg Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
“At the Center for Coordination of Mine Action under the Kharkiv Regional Administration, we showcased a new mechanized demining machine. This technological advancement aims to clear de-occupied areas in the Kharkiv region of enemy mines and shells. It's an innovative development from Kharkiv, built on the foundation of modern domestic technology, and meets high European safety and efficiency standards,” Syniehubov said.
He noted that the machine costs approximately €450,000, significantly less than imported counterparts, which are three times more expensive.
"Its repair will also be cheaper and faster, as the spare parts and components are produced in Ukraine," added Syniehubov.
The machine features a 320-horsepower engine, tracks, support rollers, and a hydraulic system for lifting the working mechanism and loading onto a transport trailer.
“The working mechanism is equipped with interchangeable parts — chains with hammers or a cutter that can penetrate up to 30 cm into the ground. This enables the destruction of explosives, primarily anti-tank mines. Such equipment will expedite demining, ensure the safety of sappers, and support the growth of Ukrainian manufacturers,” he emphasized.
According to the regional administration, over 1.25 million hectares of land in the Kharkiv region, including farmland, power lines, roads, and bridges, are contaminated with explosive hazards.
