The requirements of the European Commission to grant Ukraine EU candidate status can be met by the end of the year, said Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishyna. There are a total of seven conditions.

By the end of the year, Ukraine plans to meet the requirements of the European Commission for granting the status of a candidate for EU membership. This was announced on Wednesday, June 22, by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishyna.

"We expect all these steps to be implemented by the end of the year. I think we can implement most of them even faster. This applies to certain legislation and implementation of technical tasks," she said at a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center.

According to Stefanishyna, a roadmap for implementing the recommendations is currently being prepared and will be presented and approved by the President of Ukraine soon.

The Deputy Prime Minister also reminded us that at the end of the year, the European Commission would prepare conclusions and assess how effectively Ukraine has implemented the recommendations. According to Stefanishina, each step "serves the interests of Ukraine", and they are not complicated or unfeasible.

Candidate status, in addition to an important political signal, gives Ukraine access to EU structural funds, the deputy prime minister added.

"These are incomparable funds with those we had before. These funds will be used to rebuild Ukraine and build a sustainable economy. We are talking about hundreds of billions of euros available after receiving candidate status," said Stefanishyna.
