The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, believes that Vladimir Putin will not come to the negotiations in Turkey on Thursday, May 15.
He said this in a comment to journalists.
“The Russian delegation will definitely come. (Regarding Putin, – ed.) If you want my personal opinion, then no. I think not,” he stated.
Budanov noted that, in his opinion, they also do not plan to send a Putin's double to Turkey on Thursday.
According to the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, by such a step, the Russians would destroy their own idea that Ukraine is doing everything to avoid real, genuine peace negotiations.
“Our President has made a decisive step, clearly saying: I am coming, I am ready. And now it won’t be possible to say that this is something else… Our President has made the right step now. We will see how it goes,” he said.
Answering a question about what results he expects on Thursday, Budanov expressed the view that it will give impetus to the next processes.
“It is impossible to stop such a war with one meeting. This needs to be understood. But it is the right and good step,” the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate is convinced.
