As reported by the Government Portal, Chancellor of the Lithuanian Government Gediminas Balčiūnas announced during an online meeting with the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko that Lithuania is ready to allocate assistance in the amount of 6 million euros for the rapid expansion of the rehabilitation system. This support aims to ensure that more individuals in need of rehabilitation assistance can receive it. The assistance may involve participation in the construction of a rehabilitation center or department. Additionally, a portion of the funds might be directed towards the development of human resources in the field of rehabilitation and psychological rehabilitation services, which are in growing demand.

Minister Lyashko shared that Ukraine has already developed a strategy for the development of rehabilitation in the healthcare sector, based on the experience of Israel, a country that essentially lives in a state of war. To meet the demand for providing rehabilitation assistance in the healthcare sector for both military and civilian citizens, Ukraine needs approximately 7,800 beds. Slightly more than 5,000 beds will operate in rehabilitation departments in cluster hospitals throughout Ukraine. About 1,500 beds will be provided by 6 specialized rehabilitation medical institutions at the national level, and another 1,000 beds will be allocated for 5 rehabilitation centers to be launched by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The participants of the meeting agreed on the further action plan for the selection of investment objects among those prioritized by the Ministry of Health, taking into account the strategy for the development of the rehabilitation component of Ukraine's healthcare system.

It is worth noting that since the beginning of the year, over 75,000 patients have received outpatient rehabilitation services, and more than 66,000 people have undergone inpatient recovery. Leading in this direction are the Dnipropetrovsk and Lviv regions, as well as the city of Kyiv.
