Ukrainian basic military training instructors will have the opportunity to study in Lithuania in 2025.
This was announced by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defense, Brigadier General of Justice Serhiy Melnyk, and Lithuania’s International Advisor on Professional Military Education, Stasys Paldunas.
The first phase of the program will involve a group of 30 Ukrainian instructors who, after completing their courses in Lithuania, will be able to implement modern NATO methodologies and approaches in Ukraine's training centers.
“Improving military education and combat training is one of the key tasks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We are grateful to our partners for their support, which allows us to integrate modern NATO standards into our training system,” said Melnyk.
Additionally, the meeting discussed updating training programs in combat shooting.
A pilot project is planned for 2025 at two Ukrainian educational institutions with NATO assistance. The project aims to create modern courses for combat shooting instructors in compliance with Alliance standards.
Ukrainian servicemembers undergo extensive training in various countries worldwide with the support of NATO and European Union partners. This enhances their skills, adapts them to Western army standards, and allows effective use of modern equipment.
These programs are essential for strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and integrating its army into the European collective security system.
